We offer a wide range of services including general medical services for private and public patients, antenatal and post natal care, childhood and travel vaccines, women’s and men’s health, and joint injection. Our Clinic (Est. 1968) has provided GP services to Galway City, Claddagh and Salthill communities for over 50 years. We are specialists in Aero Medical Examinations and Seafarers Medical examinations and certifications.

Dr. Kieran Whyte
Dr. Whyte has been serving the community as a GP for over 30 years. He graduated from UCG (now NUIG) in 1988 with MB Bch BAO qualifications. After completing his training in Altgelvin Hospital, Derry, NI, Dr. Whyte spent 1 year working in Australia before returning to Galway to work with Dr. O’Byrne in 1992.
Emer gradutated as a Nurse from the Regional Hospital Galway (now UCHG) in 1988. She continued working in the Regional Hospital before moving to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, NI. She has been working at the GP practice in Galway since 1992. Emer specialties include Asthma and Diabetes care.

Covid-19 Vaccine Information
Your COVID-19 vaccine will offer you protection from COVID-19 (coronavirus). If you are aged 80 or over you will now be offered a 3rd dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. 1st and 2nd dose vaccinations are still available at the vaccination centre. Aero Medical Examinations
Dr Kieran Whyte is an IAA Approved Aeromedical Examiner. Aero Medical Examinations medical can be done up to 45 days before the expiry of your current medical.
A valid certificate attesting to medical fitness is a legal requirement for any seafarer. Dr Whyte is authorised by Maritime Safety Directorate to performed the Seafarer ENG11 Medical.
A valid certificate of medical fitness is required to dive. Diving can be both physically and mentally demanding. Your diving medical certificate varies with age, but typically are valid for two years
Travel vaccines are best given at least one month pre travel, some, such as rabies need to be given over a 28 day period. For specific travel advice, including vaccinations, yellow fever and malarial prophylaxis you should book a consultation.

Our Galway city GP practice is conveniently located at 42 Fr. Griffin Road serving the communities of Salthill, Claddagh and Galway City & Docks. Located opposite Joyce’s Supermarket on Fr. Griffin Road, the clinic is within walking distance of Galway City Centre and the Claddagh. Parking is available on street (pay & display) and in the underground car park located at Crescent Court Mall / Joyce’s Supermarket.
